Location of Repair Analysis (LORA XT) is an advanced and powerful tool for optimal location of repair resources. In this problem type the repair and/or reorder policy is not fixed in input data but optimal policies are calculated for different groups of items. This optimisation is integrated and performed simultaneously with the spares stock optimisation.

This approach offers significant benefits over the traditional approach to LORA, Level of Repair Analysis.

In this process cost for repair resources are balanced against cost for spares. The result is a C/E-curve where each solution point contains an optimal repair/reorder policy and resource allocation as well as a matching and optimal spares allocation. The new problem type is denoted LORA-XT, Location of Repair Analysis Extended.

In contrast to traditional LORA where items are treated one by one, LORA-XT take resources that are common to several items into account. Furthermore, the location of repair optimisation is totally integrated with the spares optimisation, and the result is an optimal solution taking both these aspects into account.
